Because the SmartClean® log will make creosote more friable, using the SmartClean® log one week before a mechanical sweeping will help the brushing by making it easier and more efficient. Before the SmartClean® log is placed in the appliance, a regular fire must be started to properly warm the chimney and the creosote, an essential step for the treatment.

When the SmartClean® cleaning log is inserted into a blazing fire, it burns and when the heat reaches the center, the powder moves into a gaseous state. It is at this moment that the ingredients become active and attack the dangerous creosote in the chimney. It eliminates the creosote when in combustion.
